Yep, you read it right, its been confirmed on Tamiya Blog that THE greatest (obviously a biased opinion) Tamiya RC buggy ever to be made is FINALLY getting re-released! Yahooooooooooooo! It was confirmed by Tamiya at the Tokyo Hobby Show recently!
This certainly wont be a cheap kit, and I’m guessing it’ll be tipping the $500 mark based on the Avante Black Special pricing, so start saving Egress fans as you’re gonna need two :) One for the shelf and one for bashing!
There’s a big discussion on this over on Tamiya Blog, so pop over and join the chatter if you like!
Watch this space for more info and the obvious pics when this beauty ships and lands in my loving arms!

Cool! Thank you so much for the insight. I just saw the chassis and other angle pictures from the japanese trade show - oh my god it looks fantastic. I cannot wait to have a rere Egress as a runner. I do actually miss the hint of blue on the rere version from the adjuster ends though. I'll have to get some of those if I can. It's the little details like that, that fill in the nostalgic image for me. I expected an original to be pricey. There's one on ebay at the moment for £1100+. I wish I'd bought one when they were £260 back in the day. Bring on the rerelease!

Hey Nolan, Right place indeed ;) A NIB Egress is worth (at auction) about £800-900 these days based on the ones I've watched come and go this year. Buy it now's are always around £1000-£1100 so there is a premium to be paid if you want one in a hurry. After scrutinising eBay for the past 5 years for anything Egress related, I'd say on average 1-2 come up for auction per year, so if you're patient, you can grab one for a couple of hundred less than buy it now prices. Its going to be interesting to see a) how close the re release is to the original and b) what effect that's going to have on the original NIB kits. My guess, and it is a guess, is that the original NIB kits will drop down to say £800 in value, possibly less. So I'd hang fire until next summertime once the market as settled down after the re-release.

I reckon I've come to the right place! I love this blog, it's been really interesting to follow. In your opinion how much would a new-in-box Egress be worth. The reason I ask is, despite the rerelease, I'm looking for an original. Thank you!
