Hey guys,
Quick video of the beauty in action. Nothing special, just a quick test up/down a street on a cold and frosty morning.

Hey Robin, Apologies for not replying sooner! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the site, its certainly been a blast creating it :) Sounds like you had a killer Egress back in the day, I would have been the chap with the Madcap staring in envy ;) Thanks again! Mike.

OK, just a quick post to say that this site is completely awesome!! I stumbled across it by chance and it has made me decide to get back into RC modelling after more than 20 years. I was a 7 year old boy when I got my first Tamiya car: The Thundershot. This was followed by the Avante, ClodBuster and -finally- the Egress. All the other kids at school also had their cars: The Frog, Bigwig, Lunchbox, Kyosho Turbo Optima, Scorcher (?) and a few others I can't remember the names of. We would all spend HOURS every day browsing the Tamiya catalogue, shopping for spares and of course racing our cars. I have lots of fond memories of my childhood but nothing - NOTHING - comes close to getting my Egress. This was pure fanboy fantasy wrapped in blister packaging and cardboard. I modded my car with a Trinity Nuclear Meltdown Monster 9T motor with 58k revs (it wasn't meant for buggies, but I didn't care!). It drew so much current that the plastic cable plugs and Futaba ESC SC melted. So I had that replaced with an orange Novak SC with a massive heatsink and goldplated speaker-style clips. Oh my god, the car was SOOOO fast!! It was such a beast that our school decided to ban all RC Cars and the battery charge lasted for <2 mins. But to this day the sheer ecstasy of pushing the throttle on this car is pretty unmatched (that incl. class-A drugs, sex, extreme sports etc!) :-) Egress was simply the best - I LOVED THIS CAR and just thinking about it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I eventually made a huge mistake and sold it to raise funds to buy a Schumacher Nitro buggy. I started to feel like an amateur driving Tamiya when the pros were on Schumacher Cats, Associateds and Losis. And yes, the Schumacher was technically an awesome car but it didn't have a soul. It was completely divorced from the heritage you felt with every Tamiya car and the goofy but lovingly crafted personalities each Tamiya car had. Sadly, I quickly grew out of RC modelling and got addicted to the rise of gaming on personal computers instead... The Egress was not the best car in the 80s and it almost certainly isn't today. I don't care - it's the only RC car in the world that *I* want. I can't wait to place my order and lovingly recreate a piece of history. Long live the Egress! PS: I'm sure I'll be posting questions to this site as I know nothing about modern battery and ESC technology ;-)
